NSW Business Chamber Northern Rivers created a regional campaign that set about keeping business open in the region and attracting new business to the region when faced with economic downturn due to natural disasters. They determined that for every $1 spent by the region in the region, by customers and businesses, the economic multiplier effect to the region was $3.

Using the learnings from this program and developing additional support materials Central Coast Chambers being Wyong Regional Chamber, Gosford/Erina Chamber of Commerce, The entrance Chamber of Commerce and Peninsula Chamber of Commerce partnered with Central Coast Council and Business NSW Central Coast to further develop a recovery program based on the Northern Rivers Case Study. The most significant change to the program was a locally designed app that will feature an extensive region-wide business directory with locational functionality, the ability to create a customised Rolodex of favourite businesses and a star rating to encourage other businesses. The Central Coast Project saw businesses pledge an annual sum in excess of $30 million dollars of purchases to be re-directed within the region.

Taking the learning from both projects into the MidCoast Bigger Backyard, into the MidCoast Bigger Backyard enabled us to deliver a bigger and better project across the entire region and in 2023 we have brought the technological solution to the Northern Rivers.
